family problems, financial difficulties and even severe illness and death. If you or a loved one is suffering from alcoholism it is important to seek help right away. Alcoholics Anonymous is one place to
turn to. LA AA can be the first step in addressing the problem and getting your life back.
If you are suffering from alcohol addiction chances are you feel very alone. You may hate yourself for continuing to drink, but feel powerless to stop. If your drinking is affecting your family life or your ability to function, it is probably time to seek help, such as an Intervention in the LA area. People in LA AA have been through the same problems with alcohol as you. Getting involved with such a program is an important first step in facing your problem. At Alcoholics anonymous you can learn ways to cope with life that do not involve alcohol, and address your problem with understanding rather than judgement.
When deciding whether or not LA AA is right for you there are some questions to ask yourself. First of all, is your drinking causing problems at home or work? Perhaps you have missed work due to a hangover. Or had altercation at a family function due to being drunk. If these things have occurred more than once over the past year it is time to seek help. Also, have you tried to stop drinking and not been able to? Maybe you tried to stop for a week but were only able to stop for a couple days. Maybe you tell yourself you will only have one or two but end up having triple that amount. People
who are dependent on alcohol often think that they can stop any time that they want to, but that is not the case. Finally there may be physical symptoms present. Do you “blackout” after drinking, meaning not being able to remember hours or even days after drinking? This is a pretty sure sign of alcohol dependency. Another physical symptom is needing a drink to stop shaking. If you are experiencing this it is a good idea to get help as soon as possible.
